A coalition of nonpartisan civic organizations has launched a nationwide voter registration campaign targeting an estimated 4 million unregistered Americans between the ages of 18 and 29 ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. The initiative, called Register26, combines on-campus outreach at more than 1,500 colleges with digital registration tools integrated into popular social media platforms.

Organizers say the effort is the largest coordinated youth registration drive in American history. The campaign is leveraging partnerships with major technology companies to embed registration prompts within apps and platforms frequented by young adults, including TikTok, Instagram, and Discord.

Political analysts from both parties acknowledge that youth turnout could be a decisive factor in competitive midterm races. Historical data shows that midterm election turnout among voters under 30 has averaged just 28 percent, compared to 50 percent for voters over 60. Campaign organizers say their goal is to close that gap by at least five percentage points.
